Position: Home Health Phlebotomist
Employment Type: Full-time, Part-time, or PRN
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Compensation:
  • $22.00/hour for approved travel time, office hours, meetings, administrative tasks, and required training, including New Hire Orientation
  • $30.00 per completed patient visit
  • Weekly payroll

Travel between patient homes may be required throughout the workday. Employees are expected to accurately document all hours worked, completed visits, mileage (if applicable), and required notes in accordance with BrightStar Care policies and procedures.
Compensation is based on completed visits and approved work hours submitted before payroll deadlines. Additional details regarding scheduling, visit assignments, documentation requirements, and reimbursement policies will be discussed during onboarding and orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Collect blood samples through venipuncture and capillary techniques while maintaining patient comfort and safety
  • Prepare and process specimens according to laboratory protocols for accurate testing results
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to assist in patient assessment
  • Follow aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection and handling
  • Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, patient information, and specimen labels with precision
  • Provide excellent patient service by explaining procedures clearly and addressing patient concerns with empathy
  • Adhere strictly to safety guidelines, infection control protocols, and clinical laboratory standards
  • Travel to patient homes to provide mobile phlebotomy services
  • Coordinate specimen transport and ensure timely delivery when necessary

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven laboratory experience with proficiency in laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen processing
  • Certification or training in phlebotomy, venipuncture, and blood sampling methods
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and clinical laboratory practices
  • Experience working in hospital or home health settings is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of vital signs measurement and aseptic techniques
  • Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to care delivery
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions accurately while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
  • CPR certification preferred
  • Active Fingerprint Clearance Card preferred
