The Platform Engineer will help to shape the future of healthcare technology. This role will design, build, and operate secure, compliant, and highly reliable cloud platforms that support healthcare applications and data. The Platform Engineer plays a key role in evolving our platform to support our healthcare workloads while balancing developer velocity, security, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Platform Engineering and Architecture: Design, implement, and maintain cloud-native infrastructure supporting healthcare workloads. Define and maintain reusable platform components and deployment patterns for engineering teams. Evaluate and integrate Azure services to improve platform scalability, reliability, and developer experience
  • Engineering Practices and Automation: Advocate for engineering best practices and processes, including automated testing and observability practices to ensure high-quality and efficient delivery. Develop and manage platform automation using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep). Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment. Integrate security in the delivery process.
  • Reliability, Operations, and Observability: Operate and support platform environments with a focus on availability, resiliency, and disaster recovery. Implement and maintain observability and monitoring using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights. Support incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvements.
  • Quality & Documentation: The ability to guide technical teams to ensure solutions are built with a quality and reliability mindset. Maintain clear runbooks for platform operations, incident response, and recovery. Support compliance documentation and audit evidence generation.
  • Mentorship & Growth: Guide and mentor engineers while driving best practices in platform engineering. Provide technical guidance and influence platform design decisions. Lead by example in operational excellence, security awareness, and engineering discipline.

Skills & Qualifications

EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in cloud DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Solid hands-on experience with Azure Services, Azure DevOps, and Git workflows.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep).
  • Demonstrated experience with container orchestration (Docker and/or Kubernetes(AKS).
  • Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, and/or Python).
  • CI/CD experience for .NET, Node.js, or Python services with automated testing.
  • Hands-on experience with observability logging tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, App Insights).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, especially when dealing with complexity or ambiguity within cross-functional environments.
  • Ability to influence and work in a collaborative cross-team environment.
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience in Healthcare technology, including clinical provider environments and patient engagement platforms.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity in cloud environments.
  • Background in FinOps and cost optimization.
  • Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, or equivalent).
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Hybrid preferred with travel to the Bannockburn, IL office on a monthly basis.
  • Work environment – Fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic work environment with a focus on teamwork and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Hours – 8am to 5pm; after hours work as needed, emergency on-call for security incidents.
